A lonely street lay still under a cloudy sky, the ground wet with recent rain. The streetlights reflected shimmering hues in the glossy pavement as a single car rolled along.

The driver was tired from another long shift. Working multiple jobs was taking a toll. What time was it? For that matter, what day was it? Was there an appointment tomo-

-was that a group of children that just ran across the road? Caught momentarily in the glare of the headlights- certainly several figures. Some a bit small?

The driver was unsure of what to do. The figures had been far enough away that the car didn’t need to stop or swerve to avoid them- they just slipped across the road, like cats- but, were some of them chasing the others? Was it dogs chasing cats? That was it…it must have been a group of dogs, chasing a group of cats, and a trick of the light. And the sleepy mind.

The driver traveled on into the night and made their way home, and slept quite soundly.
