Another night, another victory. Elleriuv was taking the karting world by storm, race after race standing on the podium if not the top step. His rivals were multiplying, but at this stage of competition all of his peers were young students like himself, and most of its was good natured and even friendly.

Eventually, he won a particularly big race, the local regional divisional championship, and afterward he noticed a somewhat different group of people at the paddock. They were wearing suits, and looked a little more serious than he was used to go kart team members looking, even the bosses. It didn’t take long for Elleriuv to be approached.

They were representatives of some of the most prestigious racing teams in the world, here to recruit him as their next star talent. This was it, his big break.

After a few weeks of negotiations, he was on board and ready for his first race with his big new team.

Turned out he’d just jumped from his small pond into a MUCH bigger sea, complete with MUCH bigger fish. This new team was world-renowned partly because it was just so large; he wasn’t a star driver, just talent good enough to be a cog in their global Motorsports business machine. Before Elleriuv could realize what had happened, he’d been essentially tricked by one of his new bosses into taking a drive no one else wanted. The team had entered a demolition derby and needed a driver; injuries were almost guaranteed, there was a huge risk he’d damage his hands, eyes, or other critical body parts and never grow to fulfill his potential.

When the night came for the dangerous race, Elleriuv steeled himself with the conviction that he would make it through, in one piece, and never look back. He was going to shine no matter how much they put him through.
