The streetlights reflected shimmering hues in the glossy pavement as a single car rolled along. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The driver was tired from another long shift. Working multiple jobs was taking a toll. What time was it? For that matter, what day was it? Was there an appointment tomo-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/mleyartanddesign.com\/state\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/download80.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mleyartanddesign.com\/state\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/download80.jpg 512w, https:\/\/mleyartanddesign.com\/state\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/download80-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mleyartanddesign.com\/state\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/download80-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-was that a group of children that just ran across the road? Caught momentarily in the glare of the headlights- certainly several figures. Some a bit small? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The driver was unsure of what to do. The figures had been far enough away that the car didn&#8217;t need to stop or swerve to avoid them- they just slipped across the road, like cats- but, were some of them chasing the others? Was it dogs chasing cats? That was it&#8230;it must have been a group of dogs, <a href=\"https:\/\/mleyartanddesign.com\/state\/index.php\/the-chase\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/mleyartanddesign.com\/state\/index.php\/the-chase\/\">chasing<\/a> a group of cats, and a trick of the light. And the sleepy mind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The driver traveled on into the night and made their way home, and slept quite soundly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A lonely street lay still under a cloudy sky, the ground wet with recent rain.
