Treasure Adventure: Scene 1

Your own involvement in these events beginsn with a letter in your mailbox. It reads:

My dear friend,

I hope this letter finds you well. I write to you with an urgent matter of grave importance. It has come to my attention that the existence of a fabled treasure from history, with yet to be understood magical powers, has been verified. As fanciful as it sounds, evidence is bearing out the veracity of the discovery. We have pieced together enough to know that there are four Keys needed to unlock a special seal constructed around the relic. We are pretty certain about the location of one of the Keys; but that is all we know for now. But more troubling, our Enemies are actively seeking it out, and somehow know of everything we do.

I implore you, as someone with a keen intellect and a rugged determination, to join the hunt for this relic. You are uniquely suited to this task and your expertise would be invaluable. The race to find this artifact is on, and time is of the essence.

You must act swiftly and discreetly. I cannot stress enough how imperative it is that this relic does not fall into enemy hands. The consequences would be catastrophic.

I trust in your abilities and know that you will rise to the challenge. Together, we can ensure that this powerful treasure is secured for the betterment of mankind.

Yours sincerely,

Your Colleague and Friend

The letter wasn’t signed, and didn’t have your name on it- was it really meant for you? Perhaps it had no names to protect yours and this unknown friend’s identity if the letter was found. A second piece of paper, folded very small and tucked into the corner of the envelope, gave the specific location of the first of four Keys.

With a mixture of confusion and urgency, you are easily able to locate the first key. Somehow, however, your rivals have gotten the same information! Certainly they will be dangerous enemies that will stop at nothing to secure the treasure. Now it will take some incredible fortune to escape with your life, and hopefully the key as well. Wasting no time, you hire a local pilot to take you as close as possible to the marked site.

The enemy was closer than you thought. While you weren’t aware, your pilot jumped out of the plane. Now you must take control and land if you want to survive, let alone find the key.

Peering out of the rear window, the tiniest speck on the horizon is visible. A plane. No, it was several planes. The archaeologist’s heart raced as they realized that they were being chased. If the enemy caught sight of them, they would surely be captured and the key would fall into their hands. The only option now is to quickly land and try to vanish into the wilderness.

Action:

Now, each player has a chance to control the Main Character in this scene.

Step 1: Lay up to four cards face down in front of you. The combined value of the cards is your influence on the scene. Whoever has the highest value takes control.

Step 2: Roll d6.
1- Ngorongoro
2- Potala Palace
3- Machu Picchu
4- Ayer’s Rock
5- Hvalsey Church Ruins
6- Angel Falls

Step 3: Go to the location in Flight Simulator. Choose the Spirit of St. Louis plane.

Step 4: Start this timer with a range of 6 to 11 minutes

Step 5: the Main Character must land the plane. If you land without crashing, before time runs out, you get one of the 4 face down key cards. You can look at the key card but still not your identity card. If you crash, or time runs out before you land, the Key goes to a blank part of the table now to be identified as the Unknown Party. This represents the Key ending up in someone’s hands that none of the players know about yet, to be revealed later in the story.
